Standard Mac Progs open but are not responsive?


hi all. using imac retina 5k yosemite 10.10.3. reason standard mac programs calendar, app store, messages etc. opening not responsive , can't close them unless force quit. been happening few days , have no updates pending. think might have started when updated photos.

ideas? driving me crazy!

a few things try:
  • open disk utility , repair permissions on boot hard drive, reboot.
  • create new user account, reboot , login new user account. issue still happen in new user account?
  • boot safe mode (hold shift-key while rebooting). login , see if issue still happens. reboot normal mode when done.

[SOLVED] SFOTT usb key not bootable Mavericks
