said ram 4 gigs , apparently, told in mx has helped him computer cannot upgrade ram processor. wondering if accurate. running snow leopard.

first question recent operating system can install on mac without having problems? have read upgrading older machines newer os can result in sluggishness if there isn't enough ram.

second question this: when skype, after 10-15 minutes computer shuts down. know be? wish new machine cannot afford right nor can afford buy him one.

you can totally upgrade ram on machine, remove battery, undo 3 screws on metal hatch in battery compartment , you're in. on particular 1 can upgrade ram 6 gb. highly recommend doing if want upgrade os; can have current version of yosemite on , should go el capitan well.

on second question, sounds maybe it's suffering thermal overload. try asking him spray canned air vents , if he's more technically inclined, take off top case , clean out fan , heat sink fins.

[SOLVED] SFOTT usb key not bootable Mavericks
