Mac pro 3,1 Early 2008 questions


hello all,

first of please patient new building machines , ask stupid questions along way (mac user macbook pro).

have been given 3,1 mac pro. unfortunately not in working state , missing parts. have narrowed parts down to:

graphics card
2 x ram riser boards
ram
1 x hd bay
front fan unit
airport card
heat sync cover

plan upgrade machine little bit of beast/family home computer/work station. assuming being model still able take current version of software worth money getting work. risk guess have take spending money on these parts not knowing if machine working or not. looks in condition although aware isn't full story.

give me brief dream build of parts , maybe more budget choice regards ram/graphics cards , processors(if worth upgrading).

assuming quad core 2.8 model , nothing more can't find specs on it.

you can tell easy enough processors in if see 2 heat sinks have 8 core model not four. or looking @ see serial number has summary of shipped there. on worth buy parts if works times when cannibalizes machine has been because no longer works yes taking chance on getting parts find out if indeed work. still capable machine if work not processor upgrades in model 3.2ghz best can not lot of improvement on 2.8 stock shipped model. ram minimum go 8gb 16gb being sweet spot. graphics go crazy , buy high end card or 8800gt model did ship cheap option. amount of parts missing cheaper buy used working machine in long run have possibility of having parts if ever goes titsup.

[SOLVED] SFOTT usb key not bootable Mavericks
