iTunes: iPhone photo data showing up as "other"

my problem seems reverse problem of find complaints when try , search this.

since haven't culled in while, photos , videos on iphone (5s, ios 8.4.1) take quite lot of space. if on phone under settings->general->usage->manage storage, says photo library 8.1 gb, correct - none of in "recently deleted". however, when connect phone computer, in summary tab of itunes (12.2.2.25), pink photo section of usage bar says 152.5 mb (1047 photos), while "other" 7.31 gb (documents , data 2.25 gb). ~1000 number, seems right (if add camera roll, favorites, panos, videos, etc. adds ~1000), data size listed in itunes incorrect. @ several mb per photo, 1000 photos should several gb in size. in count ~40 panos , ~130 videos/slo-mo, brings total 8gb used phone reports. why itunes not showing correct data size under photos? seems of data reported "other" , maybe "documents , data" photos , videos. also, inconsistency phone reports 6.3 gb available, while itunes says has 7.97 gb free.

not show stopper, annoying bug. seems of photo/video data on phone being classified "other" in itunes. i've tried doing hard reboot of phone, restarting itunes, clicking , unblocking "automatically sync" box, still reports data usage incorrectly in itunes.

suggestions?

thanks.
