Virus found message-is it real, how to proceed?


recently did clean of old bookmarks , web locations. had several websites simultaneously opened safari.

message appeared:

virus found

last website visited has infected mac virus.

press ok begin repair process.

under message displayed blue ok button no option refuse.

warning sent by

http:/macupdate.com-apple.club/healthcheck/virus_found.html



did check http://www.macupdate.com/ - sells software i’ve never use services.



did not address of website.

allegedly infected mac.



not sure whether message legitimate , did not pressed ok instructed.

instead force quitted safar , trashed cookies.



relevant experience ,please, tell me case, have virus , if yes actions take.

understand case mush appreciated!

mac has os 10.6.8, fire wall on.

way safari 5.1.10 set has plugin wot checks websites , found helpful in couple of occasions.

i’m not techie , regular mac user.

it's not real, , isn't cookie can cause; there's reason delete them.
