iTunes: possible to replace/upgrade a song file while keeping existing play count?


let's have 2 different versions of same song, both of have been matched itunes match, , 1 of higher quality (i.e., better audio). want replace lower-quality version higher-quality version, i've listened lower-quality version 200 times , want keep play count. there relatively easy way without screwing itunes library? thanks.
 

replace lower-quality track higher-quality one.
set play count of higher-quality track using following applescript in script editor:

tell application "itunes"    activate    set played count of track named "[i]higher-quality track[/i]" 200    return  end tell
