Mac Mini to Cambridge Audio AV receiver by TOSLINK / SPDIF.

hi all,

have cambridge audio 650r av receiver, plug panasonic blu ray player / pvr coaxial spdif directly, , intend buy mac mini connect mini toslink optical mac's digital audio out.

650r had many issues plagued upon release, never resolved firmware or other updates. on cd playback, lose input when track finishes if there's gap longer second. i'm not talking brief 'unlock' / 'handshake' delay, mean loses , way re-establish connection select input again. assume because pvr pauses output briefly when there's no signal, , receiver gets confused. real shame unit ideally designed multiple digital inputs decent on-board dacs. hdmi doesn't quite this, lose first 2 seconds of every track. know it's not problem source separate dac had no problem detecting , maintaining digital signal no drops.

anyway, c'est la vie, , use pvr's analogue output , run on analog direct.

have no such issues spdif connection pc (presumably because constant, uninterrupted stream once windows starts).

question this: idea if same 2014 mac mini intend connect 1 toslink main audio source 650r , hope connection stable & reliable? or hdmi choice unless decide can bothered again separate dac route.

got experience of audio (itunes mainly, might experiment plex etc) mm way straight (preferably cambridge audio) receiver? panasonic experience or pc experience, again once osx has loaded? 'reset' digital output when track finishes or after period of audio inactivity? or safe assume mm outputs constant signal, if it's silent, when on?

thanks

rob

i go mac mini marantz av amp, , uninterrupted 7.1 audio, no issues whatsoever. using hdmi got second or of no audio, looks pcm handshaking issue on hdmi not occur on spdif.

know not same amp, similar in mac mini via spdif.
