The Future of the Mac Mini (2015)


i'm not speculation threads, there seemingly no dedicated discussion here on sub-forum future of mac mini , potentially on horizon. there older thread dated 2 years , rather inactive, , wasn't created in terms of working today. have seen mentions, there doesn't seem dedicated thread future redesign or refresh bring (or if removed entirely). enjoy using product line, enabled me, of own computer peripherals already, own capable mac desktop unit while keeping wallet in mind. have (and use daily) 2012 dual-core i5 mac mini, , after snatching new $500 before refresh of line in 2014, have no interest in ever using else desktop computer. mac pro wonderful terribly expensive, , mac mini allows me use have , not pay not need buying.

start off sharing opinion product line has firm place in mac lineup. if not counting clamshell notebooks, other traditional desktop options imac , mac pro, start @ $1,099 , $2,999 respectively. , don't think fair include imac in comparison, all-in-one opposed traditional "tower" or "box" style computer, desktop computer nevertheless. don't know if mac mini exist know today in mac lineup forever, doesn't hurt have traditional desktop option (where aren't paying hardware of all-in-one; in other words have own peripherals) doesn't start anywhere near few thousand dollars. mac mini perfect niche spot, , apple seems recognize keeping around of time far. in opinion, makes wonderful buy typical windows fence sitter.

can't offer speculation in terms of redesign other typical "lighter , thinner" agenda, can possibly see fanless designs approaching, in rmb, utilizing core m cpus, though runs of of ac power, further stance of "the world's energy efficient desktop" apple claims. not suggesting effective or not, can see happening in small form-factor desktop. i, one, think design fine is, , not need sort of major overhaul beyond simple spec bumps , updated ports time progresses. love see expandability brought mac mini. absolutely dislike done 2014 "redesign" ram soldered, , trying upgrade unit in way no-go. also, most, disappointed quad-core cpu options removed, , dual-core options remain. while use dual-core mac mini @ moment, stated have no desire mess other desktop in future, may have if quad-core cpus aren't brought in these units in coming years.

hopes in mid late 2016, have new mac minis choose have restored upgradability expandability, updated hardware , ports (to expected) including quad-core cpu options once again, , design left alone if altered @ cost of slower, fanless cpus. thoughts, macrumors? hear , opinions.
 

i wouldn't surprised if apple released it's version of pc on stick lenovo ideacentre stick 300 $149. limited cheap apple imply appropriate buy new 1 every year. want newest version of os x? buy new stick.

[SOLVED] SFOTT usb key not bootable Mavericks
