formatting a new 1TB buffalo USB HD


got new 1 tb buffalo usb hd, possible format ex fat, compatible many machines possible , have partition thats mac osextended (journaled)*format, pw protect files? if not l'd have ex fat or mac osextended (journaled)*format, disk image, pw protect files, open space (obviously 1 tb limit) dynamically adjusts, increasing or decreasing capacity usage depending on files l add on or subtract disk image.
possible disk image on buffalo hd without having first place on mac transferring buffalo hd?
please detail, in advance :)
 

sure... can use disk utility make 2 partitions mentioned. when make encrypted disk image, point disk util external destination when create image.
