i made neat little cheat sheet of handy keyboard shortcuts if you're new os x, may find useful, if you're more of keyboard person mouse person ;-) note: mouse hints magic mouse.
document ms word, because i'm not familiar pages (yet?), fiddly layout gets messed when open in pages or libreoffice, i've attached picture well.

other keyboard shortcuts i've noted down on past month or of getting familiar os x - i'm sure they're covered elsewhere, fwiw, found these useful:
lastly, keep in mind can create new shortcuts in preferences > keyboard shortcuts:
- command + tab switches between apps, , if add shift, goes in reverse, within current app, can use command + ` switch between app's windows. luckily, moving between browser tabs same everywhere: control + tab.
- if switch between views in finder often, might find command + 1 icon view, , command + 2 list view, etc. useful.
- command + info window of file.
- command + f find (in finder), can pretty complex searches!
- control+command + d dictionary.
- holding down option gives more options, e.g. when click on or start app.
select app, type menu item text, , assign shortcut key combination (use opt+; type "...")

ugh, hate term 'cheat sheet'. these consistent, programmed shortcut keys improve productivity, not 'hacks' or hidden features.
anyway, enough of that. add few ...
cmd+q quit app - usefully next cmd+tab, can navigate , close open apps.
ctrl , arrow key - trackpad gestures. horizontal arrows swipe between multiple desktops, arrow open mission control.
cmd+spacebar open spotlight.
cmd+w close window
cmd+t open new tab
cmd+n open new window
ones use.
