Thoughts on the constant addition and removal of hardware features on flagship phones?

hi guys, want thoughts regarding constant addition , removal of hardware features on flagship phones. example, inclusion of usb 3.0 on s5 , removal on s6, ois on m7 , removal on m8, second camera on m8 , removal on m9, nfc on oneplus 1 , removal on oneplus two, etc.

bother it's hard predict hardware features added and/or removed in next flagship phones? can think of other examples, besides probable addition of sd card slots , removable batteries on next year's samsung flagship phones? finally, can think of hardware feature apple has removed on iphone?

i think of these example show manufacturers changing direction after customers decided these features weren't @ top of priority list. galaxy phones had expandable memory doubt many people transfer data using computers , didn't care transfer rate--usb 2 fast enough. same goes removal of dust/waterproofing on standard model.

htc, dual camera gimmick offset inadequacy of sensors themselves. rumor htc locked agreement used sensors 2 years--likely way went more traditional route sensor in m9.

oneplus not including nfc may due cost associated adding hardware (both chip , licensing). they're working razor thin margins considering price charging , of functionality, nfc chip least used most.
