Struggling to transition to Photos or Aperture

hey,

many years wife , have been sorting our photos folders (like album name). when go photos folder in finder, see lots , lots of different folders our photo albums.

now, have tried use photos or aperture, both want import photos own library, doesn't best job @ times of keeping albums (or @ least photos show blank placeholder).

worth persisting either photos or aperture managing photos? don't idea of photos being stored in photos own library. know can open single photo in either app, , edit it.

or there app can specify photos are, , allows direct access folders within app browsing without going through crazy import , rearranging process? (hope makes sense)

know photos uses icloud photo library, don't care - don't want 32gb of photos being put on cloud , pushed our idevices. @ moment use icloud photos taken on our phones, pushed other idevices , iphones.

anyway, looking thoughts. have done?

cheers,
chris :)

aperture has ability either "referenced" or "managed" photos. googling around info need work photos referenced. personally, gave long time ago trying manage images , let aperture (and itunes music) heavy lifting me. know it's hard give control there not enough advantage, me anyway, put in time keep them straight. both aperture , itunes databases searches that, if tag, use keyword, , titles systematically, can virtually pull group of images, have put named , located folder, using search and/or filters.

might want consider setting "test" managed library nice size bunch of images, tagging, titling , assigning key words , using search , filtering used different method. believe me, 1 in shoes few years ago, it's easier managed referenced if have lot of photos (or music).

it's brave new world out there.:)
