Apple Just Told Me It's Normal For My Macbook Pro Retina To Underperform, And Completely Safe For My

my computer, 2013 mbpr 15" 2.3ghz, has had persistent issue undervolting cpu , gpu when temperatures hit between 95° , 100° c. , as normal, , expected of motherboard when determining temps of components high, remain unsatisfied cannot saturate cpu , gpu while retaining clock speeds advertised apple itself.

so, having had similar issue previous macbook pro, , having fixed replacing thermal paste myself, brought computer in apple store done. dismissed uninformed , paranoid under argument there no issue. “genius”, admitting not understanding issue presenting, ran diagnostics available him, told him computer running fine. computer not malfunctioning. of course isn’t — system throttling internals ensure doesn’t malfunction. , throttling core function of machine. nothing “wrong” machine because logic board scales voltage prevent being wrong. in other words, computer designed underperform due quality of cooling system available it.

when escalated issue “lead genius,” told unequivocally cpu can run comfortably @ 120° c. , there no issue. both apple tech support , intel tech support later clarified can, perhaps, hit 120° incredibly brief period, instability expected @ 100° , higher. should mention asked if meant “degrees or celsius” when referencing temps, , told 120° c < 200° f……

understand have responsibility provide computer best opportunity work efficiently can. provided keep computer in chilled environment, well-vented, , clean, there no reason me not able leverage full base power of both cpu , gpu, , can’t. gpu clock speed drops 925 mhz low point of ~600 mhz. cpu dip low 1.5 ghz when hits 100° c, , climb, dip; rinse , repeat.

if conforming apple’s specifications regarding optimal environment thing work advertised, should work advertised. when have fight tooth , nail apple recognize not computer performing sub-optimally on consistent basis, such issue not okay $2200 machine, have problem.

know macs run hot. what’s par course shouldn’t define gold standard. , in truth, don’t care how hot computer gets. care performance promised.

hi,
sorry, confused, you're looking then? if it's normal, expected, and its reality, how become satisfied?
