Image licensing question

hi all,

newbie ios developer, have basic question image licensing in apps.

i'm looking @ application called "who's player??" (only example; not promoting in way). see here: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/whos-the-player/id659336346?mt=8.

when use app, see heaps of pictures of football players. there no mention of image sources anywhere in app.

there many games in-app purchases (with high-quality images), , make of own. have these developers purchased images used in app? can see potentially cost thousands.

please give clarification this, appreciated!

in advance.

disclaimer: not (copyright) lawyer.

if don't own copyright images/content use in app, expected license use of them. developers that. others don't, in hopes won't caught, or unaware supposed to. depending on terms of license, properly-used images may not required give credit, might possibly explain why see no source. suspect though that, frequently, images used without proper permission.

cost, depends on images licensed from. licensors may provide bulk libraries cheap price. but, yeah, cost thousands of dollars. or not.
