Help me understand family sharing

here's current set up. wife, daughter, , myself have iphones. each have ipad , share imac family. each 1 of has our own apple id , password. devices have been set , updated on imac we've had years using itunes account. means must use itunes password when making purchases. system seems work fine , have no issues of that. negative (and it's not big of deal), when creates itunes playlist adds itunes library when device computer. or when daughter subscribes specific itunes radio station, shows in itunes radio.
i've been thinking setting family sharing. advantages give me on i'm doing now? change in current set up? 1 of main reasons i've considered family sharing because i've been thinking subscribing apple music , assume need family sharing in order keep our music separate 1 another? or not understand how family sharing works?

basically if set family sharing uses own apple id , app store apple id, pay people in family buy (well, it's same now, uses apple id purchase) have shared calendar , to-do list, family location , family photo album (which no different simple photo stream album shared 3 people). , yes, if want apple music family sharing 15 bucks (which convenient 3 people) each have own separate apple music radios, playlists etc. have drop imac, though. have (only 2 people) , love it. should try it, too.
