Can I use two video cards on two different boot drives with two different OS?

greetings mac rumor forums!

question using 2 video cards: 1 bootdrive running mavericks, , second card for second bootdrive running 10.6.8 snow leopard.

have updated sapphire radeon 7950 3 gigs of ram radeon 5870 1 gig.

new sapphire works fine main hd mavericks, however, may know, sapphire not supported os before 10.7. second hardrive, use legacy apps , games 10.6.8 snow leopard drive. while can boot 10.6.8 sapphire card, cannot except move files around - no games run, , apps photoshop run it's 1995 again.

still have room second card, question is: can re-install radeon 5870 "second card" , 10.6.8 snow leopard hd able function again?

thanks!

p.s. have seen minimal gains far moving sapphire card. video games on full settings run 5-10 frames per second faster, , no real gains in apps photoshop speak of. if answr question above "no", may return sapphire card , go previous card.

macpro 4,1 | 32 gigs ram | 10.6.8 | 10.10.4

the quick answer no, due no power avail 5870.

real answer yes, no point (in case). when considering 5870 driver optimisation in osx.

unless gaming @ high resolution (e.g. 1440p ultra texture). there not chance 3g vram show difference in gaming.

however, 5-10 fps not negligible in case. , that's quite improvement. unless talking above 60fps.

me, 7950 4k video editing in fcpx. photoshop, stock 4870 more enough in general.
