SATA PCI card drives show as external

i acquired classic mac pro 2010 5,1 , have been upgrading nearer current tech levels upgrading video card, upgrading cpu chips, adding usb3, upgrading wifi card 802.11ac , upgrading bluetooth le specs full continuity compatibility.

more 'because can' rather serious effort build fastest possible computer ever existed. :)

1 of things have done fit star tech pcie card - see http://uk.startech.com/cards-adapte...controller-card-mini-sas-sff-8087~pexsat34sff supports connecting 4 sataiii 6.0gbps drives via single cable , bought via ebay following http://www.maxupgrades.com/istore/i...--2010--2011--2012-model-id-41--51-models.cfm allows fitting drives in standard internal drive bays bypassing apple sataii connectors , instead using in case star tech card.

mentioned working, drives connected star tech card, still recognised mac , can boot them successfully, can see sataiii ssd drive working @ full sataiii speeds instead of sataii speeds, takes 240mbps 450mbps significant improvement single drive , if setup raid0 using 2 ssd drives more performance.

minor issue drives when connected via star tech pci card treated mac (running yosemite 10.10.3) if external drives have orange external drive icon , eject button shows next them.

seem remember reading there way tell os x treat them if internal drives , vaguely recall may involve editing plist sata interfaces re-labeled internal connections cannot find article again.

know how might achieved?

1. card x2 can 700 mb/s, not useful second ssd in raid 0.

2. external drive icon pretty normal drive on pcie card
