Questions RE 4K external display driven off macbook pro

im relative n00b here please gentle :) quite techy though, not embarrassing myself much!

have 2014 13" macbook pro, adore. esp retina display. screen real-estate starting hinder me work (im network engineer, having many apps open @ once key). so, consequently, have been looking external display options. samsung u28e590d frontrunner (3840x2160 "4k ultra hd"). have questions before purchase no amount of reading seems allow me de-tangle, , in fact, seem confusing myself deeper go!

here questions, , appreciated guru's on forum:

questions:
1/
my mbp graphics card supports (from apple marketing specs) "up 2560 1600 pixels on 2 external displays".... new samsung has more pixels [3840x2160], , not in "nice", ie. 2x multiple of either, happens here? scaling guess. handled monitor? or mbp os? notice blurry text etc result? clean, crisp lines / text important me. scaling introduce noticeable lag?

2/ how feed monitor: hdmi vs displayport? monitor supports both, can gather hdmi output mbp allows "support 1080p resolution @ 60hz", short of gpu can drive [2560x1600]. guess scrubs hdmi? see if bump down 30hz supports 3840x2160 (the exact samsung res!) want go there? halving refresh rate usability on modern monitors? im application productivity, not gaming etc...

3/ assuming scrub hdmi, leaves displayport. seems mbp has 2x thunderbolt-v2, supports displayport-v1.2 (~18gbps, standard designed support 4k monitors @60fps)... appear thing, looking here (https://support.apple.com/en-au/ht204149) seems if single-port-to-dvi-adapter supports 1920x1200. dual-link version allows me go on (upto unclear)... should purchasing dual-link adapter? guess so, able push maximum out of gpu, circles question-1, i.e. resolution mismatch make things crap.

4/ bizarrely, samsung u28e590d doesn't have dvi input. means guess have this:
monitor[displayport]<-> displayport-to-dvi-adapter/cable <-> dual-link-apple-adapter <-> mbp
assume there no pitfalls associated this? please don't tell me there resolution calculation make because of this!

5/parallels *sometimes* noticeably laggy (ie 1 second click / refresh delay!) when run external monitor. of work apps run out vm unfortunately. ive yet bottom of this. osx appears fine, vm suffers. problem worse on higher res display?

guess boils down is: happy purchasing new display, or fact such high res step backward above pitfalls (or alternatively, looking far deep this!!!).

in advance guys
k.

i think macbook should support 4k 60hz mst display. sst displays or hdmi connection should run @ 30 hz.
there's apple support document on 4k , uhd stuff, better have this.

using lower resolution native no idea result in blurry graphics. that's why display doesn't offer dvi connector, doesn't make sense. displayport way go.
