Using Final Cut Pro X w 4gb RAM...

hi there..

find myself in tough position. need edit bunch of 2-3 minute music videos on final cut pro x machine have available 2014 macbook air 4gb of ram , 1.4 ghz i5 processor.

going work, slow, or unusable/crash time?

doing bunch of effects within these videos -- titles, filters on of images, multiple "windows" different footage in each window running simultaneously. nothing crazy, don't think.

far i've started first video , seems run ok -- i'm concerned effects start piling in trouble point final video won't render or that.

don't have huge amount of experience video editing (mostly family videos on imovie) don't know expect in situation.

advice appreciated -- well, except "get new computer more ram advice" -- know best solution. assuming i'm stuck have, work okay?

, there suggestions making final cut run smooth possible? need keep amount of space on ssd? should save final cut library external drive while i"m editing or slow things down more?

advice appreciated. thank you!

the ssd compensate lack of ram. when os x runs out of memory, it'll write hard-drive virtual memory (briefly utilising free hdd space ram). on conventional hard-drive, cripples performance of machine due insanely slow read/write speeds , access times. on ssd performance deficit less noticable, pci-e , higher flash speeds on 2014 model.

therefore in mind, keep free space can on ssd; it's recommended between 10-15% of total space. ensure shut down computer every couple days or whenever you're not using it, option 'reopen windows when logging in' disabled.

of course it's not going break records in performance macbook air capable little machine, , should fine needs, don't worry. :)
