so moving in college flat month , needed router home setup. it's small flat - around 600 soft 1 drawing room-one kitchen , 1 bedroom. that's it. range not of issue - 25-35 feet do. internet provided college 1 16mbps speed. problem can't decide router go (meganoob alert!).
airport extreme it's expensive - 179 dollars. 5th gen on other hand @ perfect price point - 60 dollars approx. being student, price matters. 1 should go for? losing lot if go 5th gen? not gonna use feature other internet.
systems - imac 5k
macbook pro 13inch
iphone 6
you'll loose out on 802.11ac connectivity, unless have lot of ac devices (and want use 802.11ac instead of 802.11n or older standards), won't missing out on much. well, , fact 6th gen allows connect usb storage extreme use time machine, whereas supported time capsule.
favorite feature on 5th gen can still use airport utility 5.x manage , don't have use dumbed-down, feature-stripped version 6 of software. if 5th gen i'm using ever dies, think i'm going @ other manufacturers reason alone. (reserving dchp addresses more awkward, changing radio power--i reduced mine small apartment--is no longer possible, , tons of other options got removed. if don't plan on doing advanced tinkering, should fine either, though.)
tl;dr think 5th gen fine, @ price.
