Powering more drives in Mac Pro

been reading forum years, registered own 2009 mac pro running 5,1 2 3.46ghz chips, waiting msi r9 280x card - until there new card let me drive 4k screen @60hz in retina mode without jumping through hoops.

that's not point of post. installed caldigit fasta-6gu3 pro have esata , usb3 yet save pci slot. work editor, storage welcome. since fasta-6gu3 card has 2 sata connector on board, i'd add ssd drive boot (have 2 optical bay burners). here's newbie question: how power ssd? need psu or ssd light enough on power "steal" power drive or on original psu? (and how if that's possible?)
