iTunes freezes when adding new music


i have latest version of itunes on osx 10.10.4
keep music library on external hard drive, , have had no issues until now.
drive in tip top working condition , has plenty of space.

when trying add new album, allow me drag , drop, or use add library function, beach balls me, , have force quit.
other times, if allowing me drag , drop, , nothing happens, , if choose song through add library, nothing happens. if try double click on song, should add song itunes , start playing it, doesn't work either.

able add music directly hard drive, , if disable drive, able add music itunes , puts itunes folder inside music folder on harddrive.

started happening since updated latest itunes version.

have issue, or know how resolve? have way music have keep on boot drive.
 

i've seen itunes choke on 500 tracks, not 15.
have tried quitting itunes, dragging files "automatically add itunes" folder located @ /users/yourname/music/itunes/itunes\ media ? start itunes up, , should import.
used work well, haven't used in few years.

[SOLVED] SFOTT usb key not bootable Mavericks
