Using Mac as XFINITY box without extra hardware

so, have tv , xfinity subscription, don't have cable box or card, , i'm not keen on buying or renting either device. problem comcast, best of knowledge, won't let me tv running coaxial cable wall tv. however, comcast let me stream tv content on internet free using regular computer, , can hook computer tv use tv second display.

i'm looking way emulate cable set-top box experience closely reasonably possible. @ least, want computer show channel guide, , want able use remote came tv control computer in same way 1 use remote control cable/satellite set-top box.

if please me find solution, great. thanks!

i had same wont did last year, , gave up. have business class internet , residential tv (i'm college football addict...). mile-high speedbump comcast encrypts most-to-all of transmitted content now, you'd need 1 of solutions (cable box or cablecard) view of content - including local channels - , afaik in market started encryption little on year ago. market may not yet encrypted (we have offices in seattle , portland).

bci, didn't qualify packages or x1, we're using tivo roamio basic dvrs (with cablecards) comcast cablecard. it's signal encryption kill dreams.

i'm going use 1 account's credentials other location using appletv, plus basic roamio's ota features can cut comcrap loose 1 of locations. check dslreports forums site more help. luck.
