hey guys,

screenshot system manager.

attached files:

a lot of things can cause fan problems, fact changed cpus on dual 4,1 model means missed step in upgrade process somewhere. problem comes every , people upgrade processors on 4,1 mp dual cpu model.

read following article way through, here pertinent text:

https://web.archive.org/web/2013102...photography/2013/07/08/mac-pro-2009-part-tbd/

each heat sink (there 2 in 8-core , 1 in 4-core machines) contacts socket on processor board (daughterboard) when installed conveys temperature data fans. socket has modified maintain proper contact (8-core machines only). failing fans roar full speed, 5,200rpm – welcome failsafe, maybe, not 1 want hear day.

note elsewhere in article cpu isn't thing contacts heat sink:

additional thermal pad material have added contacting area each heat sink.

note cpu , heatsink temperatures missing in screen shots. basically, heatsink isn't contacting correct surfaces, temperature data isn't getting through, fans operating @ full speed.

luck!
