hi- i'm upgrading computer , want purchase 13 inch macbook pro retina display. getting 1 tb of storage due pictures. curious regarding processor , memory. have lot of pictures , little photoshop rest of work relates updating websites , working within word , excel.
think need upgrade processor standard 2.9ghz i5 3.1ghz i7?
think should upgrade 8gb memory tot eh 16gb?
don't know computers wasn't sure if storage work best upgraded processor , memory. advice appreciated! thank you!
stock cpu, 16gb if need it
cpu upgrades seldom noticeable unless regularly run long-running cpu intensive tasks performance difference reduce time perform task (rendering , encoding etc.). desktop apps, i5 turbo boost same frequency i7 , task takes couple of seconds, you'd hard-pressed see difference.
memory think application needs run happily in "green zone" of memory usage (in mac activity monitor). if find application use consistently causes disk swap space usage exceed 100mb, i'd recommend getting 16gb. don't worry small "free memory" values - normal, mac os uses free memory disk cache. i'm bit lazy closing apps , browser tabs, , find 16gb means have less "housekeeping", , maybe tidy things once every couple of days. if had 8gb, i'd have more careful closing apps , browser before opening new ones - isn't way work.

i use 2 things safari: fastscripts cmd-# shortcuts tabs in safari firefox/chrome (which not necessary in el capitan, thankfully), , safari keyword search keyword searching in bar (e.g., "wp spokane" searches wikipedia article spokane , goes if/when possible). latter: safari keyword search abandonware. creator has nothing on home page nor github in years. there little bug where, inexplicably, dumps saved keywords, requiring manual reimports. i've tried omnikey , don't based on how can't handle encoding of spaces in search strings, how stores saved entries. keysearch: don't know how handles spaces in searches. may abandonware, has not had major update since updated safari 6 years ago. glims: don't know if still around. overkill anyway. have other suggestions on minimalist, still-supported utility keyword searching in address bar? nice able "wp" , "i" , "a" wikipedia / google image / ama...
