First Volkswagen Cars With CarPlay Support Arriving at Dealerships

volkswagen today announced first 2016 cars carplay support arriving @ dealerships week, equipped company's next-generation carplay-enabled mib-ii infotainment system.

in addition supporting carplay, mib-ii system includes support android auto , comes equipped volkswagen's own car-net apps, enabling features remote lock control, remote honk , flash, parking info, stolen vehicle location, automatic crash notifications, diagnostics, , vehicle monitoring. while carplay , mib-ii system don't carry subscription fee, car-net suite of apps priced @ $199 per year 6 months free front.

volkswagen not 1 of first carplay partners announced during carplay's debut, manufacturer promised carplay support in 2016 models back in january. according volkswagen, of 2016 models include new mib-ii system, aside entry-level models.

4 different mib-ii systems carplay offered, varying based on model , trim package. entry-level vw models include 5-inch resistive 400x240 resolution touch screen not include carplay support, while 6.3 , 6.5-inch capacitive touchscreens support multi-touch gestures, carplay, , app-net available in select trims.

higher trim levels include additional features 2.5d navigation, electric vehicle functions, , more, while 2016 e-golf sel premium model alone receive 8-inch capacitive touchscreen carplay support.

first 2016 volkswagen models, golf r , tiguan, arriving in dealer showrooms of late july, , additional models released mib-ii system , carplay support later in year.

i idea behind carplay, implementation sucks. why can't work airplay , app can send ui car? has become yet category either apple or google in control, no chance smaller developer involved. i'm sick of useful having either apple or google product.
