New To Photography, avid Photoshop User

wanted make post here asking tips or guidelines may give new photography. i'd give bit of background, mention equipment , software have in order if kind enough reply. may bit of lengthy post, , admittedly sub-forum seems bit intimidating beginner myself, appreciate feedback.

own 2 cameras , purchased each 1 intentions of using them video. pen , ink illustrations , had hoped start recording , commentating them in order others learn draw. have canon eos m (mirrorless/compact) , sony wx350 (point-and-shoot). purchased canon year , half ago, , sony year ago when decided wanted bit more portable mirrorless still recorded in 1080p. long story short, unfortunately after getting prepared of , purchasing of equipment, had succumbed few different mental disorders, , have failed of it.

i'm sorry if of camera terms off, don't know them or taking photographs whole, 1 thing familiar editing software. have been using photoshop since quite young, started out in cs if remember correctly. own , use cs5 personal use - meaning edit , enhance free use stock photographs own desktop backgrounds , like, , don't redistribute or post them means. 1 of reasons don't feel discouraged or intimidated start delving this, being familiar photoshop - because sure when younger found extremely overwhelming.

eos m other reason don't feel overwhelmed, because find pretty easy navigate, although don't know best far shooting modes , like. did homework when purchasing camera, , while there problems auto-focus @ time, firmware has seemed fix now. purchased video stated previously, why overlooked auto-focus issues when taking continuous photographs, wish use images. moved area has lot of nature of wildlife , has quite bit of potential photographs long learn properly.

regret purchasing wx350. had planned on selling eos m , of accessories , using "all-in-one," more simplistic point-and-shoot still shot high res images have moved away after digging out eos m recently. love build quality, menu system, , form factor of camera. has of features want, none of ones don't want (wifi, nfc - i'm sort of oldschool) , looks easy navigate me isn't familiar of the different shooting options. plan sell wx350, , use eos m all-purposes camera.

i'm not asking links or research me. have read entire manual camera own , have read , watched videos on different techniques , strategies better myself photographer. hoping interaction , of users here can share personal experience - maybe helped when starting out, or information wish had start. if failed mention previously, doing strictly hobby, perfectionist , want best photographer can be. sorry if on place, have hard time gathering thoughts, when intimidated.

so top tips be;
shoot in raw. can more raw file j-peg.
out of auto mode, , shoot in either aperture priority or shutter priority take bit of creative control on shooting.
familiar exposure triangle , f stop/iso/shutter speed can image.
if not basics need learn first of all.
