External hard drive won't boot - questions


the external hard drive have plugged airport extreme itunes movie library won't start up. believe problem power supply. it's 3tb desktop type hard drive, not portable kind powered usb port.

question is, what's easiest way find out if drive ok? if take drive out , plug external housing have powered usb, harm? or need buy external hard drive enclosure has own power? there easy way test power supply see if it's defective part?

[SOLVED] SFOTT usb key not bootable Mavericks
