Had a strange issue - failed USB-C power supply


hey all,

thought i'd post bit of info in case else has similar issue.

last night, plugged in 12" rmb , left alone bit , noticed backup didn't work (to time capsule) , wasn't charging. instead of 56% battery had dropped 53%. thinking maybe cable loose, reseated connections , such still no dice. moved power supply around different outlets didn't work.

hunted online possible solution , thing found apple support doc said smc reset macbook, air , pro power issues. did and... "killed" laptop. no longer boot @ all. left plugged because power supply did bit warm when charging. after few hours, no luck. tried smc reset (actually several times) trying hold in power button 10-20 seconds , such still no power. macbook macbrick.

left unplugged rest of night, tried morning and... still nothing.

took apple store geniuses. took 2.5 hours see , messed bit , broke out new usb-c power adapter , did smc reset. nothing. after leaving plugged in 60 seconds started boot. slower normal boot , when did desktop, clock set 12-31-14. after connected apple store wifi , did timer synch, started work , take charge. been booting fine since. yay. didn't want whole restore, reset settings, , stuff thing today.

if have of symptoms, may bad power supply.

[SOLVED] SFOTT usb key not bootable Mavericks
