Bridging two Airport Extremes (old and new) for extended network

i have 3rd generation airport extreme (a1301) house. connected in basement , throughout house. but, second floor can little spotty, bought refurbished 6th generation (a1521) bridge old model. main questions is, matter unit connected cable modem , bridged unit upstairs?

first thing try , see if new ae can cover whole house. aren't going better 5ghz speeds because walls/floors kill signal, stronger 2.4 ghz signal may eliminate spottiness current ae.

if going go bridge option, wouldn't wirelessly. doubt you'd see benefit. if determined it, create roaming network , connect aes using powerline or moca.
