Spotify, Growth Hackers, and the Rise of 1st Party Apps

i happy spotify user, interested in apple music—streaming music in cloud + apple's catalog = win—until saw how flawed execution was.

i've noticed lately spotify, evernote, etc., interrupting workflow badges, notifications, interstitial screens, pop-ups, etc., try entice me upgrade. understand why, type of interruption marketing hostile users , builds customer resentment, not upgrades.

these breaks in workflow make me resent products , growth hackers behind them. vile spotify , obnoxious badge notification on dock cannot turned off—and points list of nonsense, e.g. "some random playlist has added 3 tracks last night."

more interested in first party apps nowadays since never push ads , promotions in face. hope apple can better, , fast, @ making great innovative cloud apps.

the upgrade ads aren't result of spotify being third party, it's result of them having free, ad-supported tier. you're choosing not pay premium service, , you're paying being advertised to.

notifications, can't turn off through notifications settings in phone? if you're talking happening on mac, haven't experienced that, if know leads nonsense, ignore it.
