Mac Mini Late 2014 Installing External SSD

i got mac mini late 2014 "desktop" along side macbook air 11 (2015). after watching several videos involved upgrading internal 5400rpm drive ssd instead decided purchase samsung 850 evo 500gb in anker ssd 2.5' enclosure (usb 3.0) "main drive". created usb os x install drive , installed os x ssd hour ago. perfect , super crazy fast. had period of time wifi wouldn't connect started working... anyway:

internal 5400 rpm 1tb drive (i got 2.6 ghz/ 8gb / 1tb model) - is safe wipe out? looked trying move recovery partition since have macbook air , use time machine external wd passport should ok without it, right?

suggestions it? leave alone backup os? use store itunes libraries / backups?

side note: highly recommend non ssd mini (2012+) this. spent $160 ssd , $13 enclosure - i'm kinda new mac have long history of microsoft. create os x install boot disk , bam, either restore time machine or install os x. have super super fast machine.

side note 2: mac mini hates wireless logitech keyboard/mouse... have use bluetooth keyboard (anker)/mouse (microsoft).

well, erased internal macintosh hd , renamed storage. running fine! guess answers question. :p

mods feel free delete.
