Why is OS X slower now than it was at the beginning?

just caveat: i'm ultimate apple/mac fanboy, , have been since days in college. i'm loyal get.

being said, watch old wwdc or macworld keynotes (for humor's sake, if nothing else), , shocked how smooth , "snappy" os x beta before shipped consumers. while steve demoing variety of tasks (on g4 cube), thought: "boy, wish yosemite snappy."

question this: has os x gotten slower?

how? why?

or in head?

switching @2x displays 2 steps before graphics , other processor advances had made 2 steps forward? (intel has seemed against brick wall since 2012 or so.)

it not in head. slowdown experiencing result of several factors, not least of os x's increasingly poor optimisation following apple's move 12-month development cycle.

crux of issue expect far more of pc running yosemite in 2015 did of 1 running cheetah in 2001. despite cheetah's responsiveness , numerous pretty ui animations, simple modern flash video bring entire system standstill.

os x evolves @ similar rate hardware on running , number of apis , features grows, operating system's use of system resources. means user while capabilities of operating system improve considerably on time, performance either improves gradually or shows no appreciable change.

if seeking better performance under os x, suggest downgrading mountain lion. recent optimised revision of operating system.
