CANNOT backup iPhone 5s! PLEASE HELP!


i trying full backup of iphone 5s on new imac before upgrading new phone.

main concern able transfer of voice memos new iphone once because record lectures @ school , music memos since full time musician! last 2 years, have recorded on 1,000 voice memos, each extremely important me, if can me out, grateful! not want possibly result in deletion of of voice memos! if there way put of voice memos own folder on imac, great too!

not extremely proficient @ troubleshooting kind of stuff, please dumb down as possible. options? has else dealt this? frustrating.

have attached screenshot of death message keep getting when try backup says,
"itunes not backup iphone "iphone" because backup corrupt or not compatible iphone. delete backup iphone try again." don't know means "delete backup" i'm scared because if , can't backup after , never voice memos back!

i'm using if helps @ all:
- iphone 5s
- ios 8.1
- imac 5k
- itunes version 12.2.1

it appears backup on mac corrupt. first fix found going itunes>preferences , click devices, , delete iphone backup on mac. try backing iphone mac again.

if don't want delete backup, there's option might work mentioned on osxdaily.com. honestly, i'd try first. here excerpt:
