Replaced RAM, MBP will not wake from sleep

last month upgraded ram in 2011 mbp 4gb 8gb using crucial memory. no issues whatsoever, figured more might better machine run little bit faster. returned 8gb , upgraded 16gb. after installation ran tests ensure memory working , passed. machine runs fine.

however, when close lid , machine goes sleep, not wake when opening lid. have press , hold power button , screen turn on fogged on (for lack of better description) , there row of tic tacs fill in @ bottom (see pic). once dots fill in nothing happens. need once again press , hold power button , manually reboot machine. not happen if leave lid open , machine falls asleep on own.


causing , how can fix it? thank you!
