MacBook & Time Machine

i *hope* being bit dense here, bare me.

want backup macbook using time machine. have 2 external hard drives, both of attached imac. understanding can't easily macbook hard drive attached networked mac.

potential solution if had airport extreme plug hard drive , if network drive. i don't have airport extreme.

solution use usb usb-c cable plug 1 of external hard drives macbook. however, wouldn't able charge rmb @ same time , current settings shouldn't when on battery power. require me manually plug in usb drive every time wanted up.

surely there simpler solution this???

(p.s 'n' key starting drive me crazy - see other thread!)

use digital av dongle apple. way can charge , backup @ same time. also, whenever charge, automatically backup (assuming leave hd connected dongle). of course, if never want connect external display, digital av port overkill, there 3rd party accessories usb-c + usb only.
