Resolved Yet another Macbook shuts down when unplugged, battery is good

i have 2009 macbook pro 17" running os-x 10.10.4. while ago showed new behaviour: when unplug power after few seconds (3-5 or so) abruptly turns off. when try start without power plugged in, turns off somewhere in middle of startup process (grey screen apple logo , progress bar).

curious thing though, when start mpb without power plugged in , press alt key boot medium selection state shown hours without problem. it's not battery (i say). else can cause such strange behaviour?

oh , 1 other thing: when try boot mbp power plugged in takes 2 4 tries until starts up. on other tries makes little startup noise , nothing.

really strange.

could hard-drive or volume corruptions, i've encountered lot of macs spotaneously shut down due this.

first thing try check hdd smart data, see if hard-drive's corrupted. other 'passed' means need replace it. i use smart utility, direct download here.

if comes clean, please try verify macintosh hd volume in disk utility? errors there?

speak soon, please quote this/keep me updated there number of other diagnostics can run! :)
