The Best-Coded OCR Software?

hi--
lot of work photographing books/texts, processing images black/white "photocopy-like" documents in aperture, , using ocr software make documents searchable pdfs own academic use.

i've been experimenting lately trials of abbyy finereader , new adobe acrobat pro dc 15. notice acrobat makes use of dgpu in 15" rmbp 2014 (quad core, 2.5 ghz, 16gb ram) while finereader doesn't seem to--although notice finereader activates fans , creates 3 processes using 99% of cpu, while acrobat seems not cause heat-stress , creates 1 process using 100-108% of cpu, according activity monitor, , makes use of "high perf gpu".

i'm not technically gifted on these forums , know if 1 or other making more efficient use of system's resources. might know if 1 coded better other? if 1 has better performance in ocr? (they both seem take long time scan book-length documents work with, , haven't bothered using stopwatch).

because high volume (300+ pg scans) pretty frequently/regularly, important me know i'm stressing machine in efficient/smart way possible , doing best way!

what best-coded, efficient , effective ocr software mac mine?
