Auto Feedback: CarPlay or LTE iPad Mini Mounted


wanted upgrade car deck , since use output on iphone began researching ios compatible options out there boiled down carplay enabled decks pretty expensive. saw mounted ipad mini in car thought ridiculous until saw how close in size carplay decks got me thinking.

lte(gps) equipped ipad mini 1($200) + cd ipad mini car mount($30) = $230 +- $10 monthly data fee if want go route

or

new carplay equipped pioneer deck = approx. $450 plus installation if decide pay someone

loose requirements:
- hands free siri
- semi driving specific interface(carplay) make easy use music apps standard car deck
- gps view

pros
- familiar, easy use interface
- os consistently updated apple
- app store full of gps , music apps
- multi use product
- viewable information, gps, music, etc

cons
- can bulky depending on how mounted
- might attract potential thieves
- can distracting when driving aren't responsible while driving
- if you're not paying data need download , possibly pay gps apps , music
- doesn't "stock"
- bulky

pros
- clean, stock look
- forces safe driver disabling phone features
- car specific interface
- appradio specific, pioneer supported car interface
- latest "tech"
- displays phone information on larger screen

cons
- expensive
- can become incompatible when ios updated
- limited compatibility ios apps
- no cd player
- limited gps options
- os not consistently updated
