i have 15" mid-2012 classic mbp both main personal , work computer. own outright, use work related tasks.
university has implemented policy computers-whether or university owned-that used handle sensitive information have employ file encryption. because handle student information(i'm adjunct instructor in addition regular work duties) have follow policy. policy does state file vault in os x meets required encryption standards. i'm not disagreeing policy-in fact think it's great(and necessary) idea-but have small concern it.
i'm planning upgrade computer ssd soon, budget won't permit me buy drive want(1tb samsung evo) until next month. have until end of month implement encryption, , prefer sooner rather later.
had intended clone current drive when installed ssd(what i've done virtually every other ssd installation i've done). i've used carbon copy cloner. i'm wondering if file vault affect ability correctly clone drive.
if will, i'll need go ahead , buy drive on credit(which i'd prefer not do) , clone before encrypting. if, on other hand, can clone after encrypting without issues i'll wait.
know how work?
no problem @ cloning file vault encrypted drive. run ccc clone every night. clone won't encrypted. if want clone encrypted you'll need boot clone , turn on same way on normal boot drive.

i use 2 things safari: fastscripts cmd-# shortcuts tabs in safari firefox/chrome (which not necessary in el capitan, thankfully), , safari keyword search keyword searching in bar (e.g., "wp spokane" searches wikipedia article spokane , goes if/when possible). latter: safari keyword search abandonware. creator has nothing on home page nor github in years. there little bug where, inexplicably, dumps saved keywords, requiring manual reimports. i've tried omnikey , don't based on how can't handle encoding of spaces in search strings, how stores saved entries. keysearch: don't know how handles spaces in searches. may abandonware, has not had major update since updated safari 6 years ago. glims: don't know if still around. overkill anyway. have other suggestions on minimalist, still-supported utility keyword searching in address bar? nice able "wp" , "i" , "a" wikipedia / google image / ama...
