hey everyone, relatively new programming , start experimenting new things. python , have experience through codeacademy html, css, , js. naturally drawn ios development, have recommendations (books or videos) learn objective-c? or useless try without other experience first? advice helpful, thanks.
you mention objective-c, have considered instead learning swift? in future become dominant language of ios development, , has gentler learning curve.
if want job doing ios development, however, objective-c prerequisite time, might find difficult find work if can work in swift. said, ever of 2 learn, transitioning later other small task in comparison learning whichever 1 choose learn scratch.
there's ton of different paths can take - learn language develop , app, learn language , develop app, learn objective-c straight off, learn c followed objective-c etc.
can comment on worked me, although i'm sure others recommend entirely different paths worked them too.
tried few books try teach language develop app, felt end being able copy , build examples in book, never understood code enough able build own things. many of 'learn ios development in 24hrs' type books this. throw straight in visual interface building tools, can make looks ios app , feel progress you've made, never grasp of code.
in end got book called 'learn c on mac' dave mark , worked way through that. pace of book quite relaxed, , explanations thorough; highly recommend it.
after worked through 'programming in objective-c' stephen kochan - it's pretty dry, explains language well.
used online resources after learn cocoa frameworks , start build apps.
in all, i'm glad took hard road of concentrating on learning language first. see many other developers don't have solid grasp of underlying programming principles do. i'm not saying it's only, or best way go it, that's how got there. did full time developer job in end too!
