hello. have problem concerning macbook pro 17" (early 2009) running yosemite. story: running until yesterday. wanted reboot system, however, during start-up, progress bar under apple logo goes half-way (very slowly), after turns prohibitory sign. have windows 7 bootcamp partition well, which starts fine . within bootcamp, can acces osx partition well, don't think there hdd problem (however, correct me if i'm wrong) have researched internet hours , hours couldn't find working solution of yet. have tried far @ startup: - pram reset (multiple times) > does not make difference. - command + r (recovery mode) > does not start. apple logo > prohibitory sign again. - option (startup manager) > osx(obviously not working) , bootcamp(working) partition showing - n (netboot) > shows picture of globe blinking few times , disappears. after, same before (apple logo > prohibitory sign) - shift (safeboot) > doesn't

i wondering if possible customise sync settings such sync on wifi in locations? here's current situation: have iphone 5s on carrier has weak or no signal @ workplace (intend change carriers later year). have wifi-only ipad mini , macbook air. use them @ work, , rely on mifi device (with 5gb / month data cap) supply internet connection devices @ workplace. however, devices have many settings set sync , / or download whenever connected wifi connection. if record video on phone, starts uploading icloud photo library once gets connected mifi device, chews through data. or open overcast play podcast , starts downloading new podcasts. quite few times, have unwittingly exceeded cap way, resulting in quite hefty data charges. here's conundrum. want devices automatically connect wifi network @ work, don't want crazy syncing processes run. want them run when home because have unlimited optic fiber connection. there way enable this?

i've been avid reader of forum , has helped me lot before, come folks last resort. have 2013 rmbp, i7-3740qm @ 2.7ghz - gt650m - 16gb ram - > games could realistically run running fine until 2 month ago, no throttling issues whatsoever. but, summer hit , started getting real annoying cpu , gpu throttles. couldn't run game on during time, , pretty assumed has dust/fans/thermal paste issues. so, sent shop cleared out dust, , reapplied thermal paste, , worked fine month. month after cleaning process, performance started decline, wasn't annoying or game breaking disregarded it. now, same problems happening again. gpu throttling down 270 mhz, cpu revolves around 2ghz range when set 2.7ghz constant throttlestop , under load, etc.. tried tweaking performance states in inspector nothing worked really. attached sensor readings during throttling , dxdiag. it's worth noting before, both cpu , gpu temps go far 99c , no throttling occur. thr

i struggling big time putting "best practice" managing photos , music. primary home laptop macbook air , storage space precious. right now, photos poorly dumped 1 folder on home nas. becomes problem because photos useless in reading them. due having multiple computers on years, different libraries got blended , on place. it's mess. since files aren't on local computer, photos can't me. music on nas. itunes plays little more nicely external folder files still seems every few months wants forget folder there. in essence, i've relied on cloud storage , physical files absolute nightmare. how handle managing media, using macbook limited storage?   i have base 11" air (with 128gb drive). photos stored in dropbox in year/month/ system. using selective sync, have current year's , previous year's photos synced air (so 2014 & 2015). else available via website
