so have huge loud fans/heating issue. here situation: have mid-2014 15" macbook pro w/ retina display (2.2ghz). bought external monitor (dell u2515h - 25" @ 2560x1440p), , connected via minidp believe. when first connected it, realized how small was...the text, webpages, icons. did little research , found switchresx make texts bigger while keeping resolution @ 1440p. worked out great, did little math , worked out perfect custom resolution me (3840x2400 hipdi...so it's 1920x1200 displaying 2400). worked out great, text sizes perfect, icons, webpages. problem, however, when play fullscreen video on youtube 1080p. whenever play videos, hulu...on fullscreen, fans become pretty loud. rpms averaging 4000-6000 rpm, , macbook pretty hot. dies down when video stopped. i'm web designer, can use photoshop...coding softwares, multiple tabs...and works fine without fans/heating issue. no, smc/pram reset isn't issue. problem when watch videos/let

i have 2010 13" mpb, love. it's getting slow, , it's high time upgrade. don't lot of processor intensive activities, 16gb of ram. screen size , portability don't matter me (i'm happy 13" screen). don't gaming on computer, graphics aren't important me. i'm concerned future-proofing. current 13" have newer intel processors, dual core. current 15" have older processor, quad core. suggestions on way go?   get 13 inch doesn't sound need quad core , unless change habits , apps use won't need quad core forseeable future. ram makes no difference unless workload or apps need it. can't future proof computer, not really, ranges of chips same each product line , not going make computer last longer. 15 inch able run more demanding software faster??? yes of course if don't use software it's not lot of use.

i needed cheap replacement , have used moto x , g, phone amazing value. got @ wal-mart $49 , uses more happy. number 1 thing of importance me on phone battery life , thing gets 4+ hours of screen time. has micro sd slot , 4.5" 720p screen. complaint phone far screen size, little small. out of box had stock 5.0 , prompting me update 5.1. of need cheap phone not hesitate, thing great little phone   i bought too, best buy when doing 25$ rewards cell phone, price match frys @ $35. rediculous value (thanks slickdeals -effectively 10 bucks kidding me!) didn't need i'll use when don't want have worry breaking phone. believe screen sub 720p i'm not tryi take away it. battery life wonderful. using on att because of gsm unlocked, missing att lte band , t-mobile lte band moto budget phones pretty eye opening.   Forums

just got 8 year old imac off in-laws they've upgraded macbook air moving house flat no room 20" imac. first thing did upon getting home install fresh install of osx 10.11 el capitan dp1 see how runs compared me mid 2012 non retina macbook pro. did clean install off usb stick , used migration assistant move stuff macbook pro onto imac clone of macbook. can wow! 8 year old machine runs surprisingly well, little lagging, animations smooth, , runs well. rocking base model 20" imac mid 2007 upgraded ram 3gb, 320gb hdd, 2.4ghz core 2 duo, ati radeon hd 2600 pro 256mb of memory. lowest spec machine (bar gig on minimum of ram) run el capitan. few things have noticed when interacting menu bar on videos playing in safari videos drop few frames , appear stutter (netflix) surprisingly machine doesn't support airplay mirroring due age, airplay icon appears in safari if send video appletv although not tested yet wife using tv lol. overall
